Default Can you remove the area around the air lid???

Below is a picture I came across where the plastic around the air lid is gone. Just wondering how to do this and if anyone else has done it.

Not sure why you'd want to do this, ...

I would think that GM had spent millions on designing the air flow pattern used by that piece that is shown as missing in that photo.

Okay, maybe not millions, ..., but the point is, it was designed with that piece in mind to function properly, & help secure the radiator.
So again, my question is why?!?

Can you remove it? Sure!
But will it function correctly & hold the radiator in place as required?
I dunno, ..., Try it.

The only thing I can think of is that he made something. I have never seen anything like that before. Like the guy above said, IDK why you would want to do that, but it's your car... have at it.

My question was more out of curiousity. I stumbled upon that picture and thought I'd see if anyone else had done it.

That pic could simply be for fitment of the lid or something. The shroud that you are wanting to remove has two purposes: it holds the radiator in place, and is the mount for the air lid. I see nothing in that pic that would replace either function, be it brackets or screws.

Yer right Spartan, must be a mock-up photo only as there's nothing securing that airlid at all. No clamps, no boot the MAF, no band clamp around the MAF, ...
Which makes ya wonder what would hold that radiator in place as I mentioned before, ...

Possibly a show car too. Not only does that piece hold the radiator in place, but without it, you wont get any airflow through it either, it will all go past it and you will have overheating problems pretty quick.

There's NOTHING in that pic... No lower air box, no coupler or clamp going to the MAF... My guess would be it's a fitment pic.
