Help I'm thinking on doing led swap

I need help and what is the biggest size led light bulb that I can put into a 99 Camaro headlight switch because I brought one from super brights and its very very dim the stock one was brighter I'm trying to make it red

YOu'll need multiple LEDs shing directly out of the indicator. Your best bet is to switch to a Firebird headlight switch since it doesn't have the blue film on the back which blocks a lot of the red from shining through.

How do I switch to a firebird I thought they were different

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Apr 11, 2013 08:52 AM

You peel your Camaro overlay off of the headlight switch unit and stick the Firebird one on. It the actual overlay you are switching to, not the entire headlight switch

redcamaro4140 Apr 11, 2013 12:21 PM

That don't work it there complete diffences switches

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Apr 11, 2013 12:32 PM

It doesn't work yet I did it to my Camaro.... whatever you say man

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. I AM REFERRING TO THE ACTUAL OVERLAY.

Interesting, I didn't realize they were the same overlay, with different text/"color filters" applied.

So, is the Firebird unit "clear" or red? In other words, does the firebird use a clear or red bulb to illuminate the overlay?

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Apr 11, 2013 01:00 PM

Clear bulb.... it has red film on the backside.. kind of like the blue film the Camaros use.

As you can see there is some trimming involved with putting the Firebird overlay on the Camaro headlight switch, but it does work and fit...

redcamaro4140 Apr 11, 2013 01:06 PM

Yea but it looks like shit you can tell on the cut at trim when you do it

redcamaro4140 Apr 11, 2013 01:08 PM

Hey ls1camaroguy let's see your in the light switch out of the car

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Apr 11, 2013 01:24 PM

The bezel covers the cut marks, so it sits in there just like the Camaro one..

redcamaro4140 Apr 11, 2013 05:08 PM

Lets see some pics with it in the bezel and out the bezel

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Apr 12, 2013 07:18 AM

Sure. Let me just go find the random lady that bought my Camaro back in January. It seriously looks the same as the Camaro one but with the Firebird text and design. Use your imagination.

What you use to trim it with

some scissors.

00transamws6 Apr 12, 2013 10:48 AM

What bulb are you using?

Ls1CamaroGuy87 Apr 12, 2013 11:17 AM

Multiple LED bulbs aiming right out of the indicator. The twist lock stock-style ones just simply aren't enough to make that thing shine.

00transamws6 Apr 12, 2013 11:25 AM

Gotcha, thanks
