Default Help out a first time 8 pt roll cage noob

I'm planning on having the car go no more than a high 9 second pass this summer on the spray, all in a street driven car, So I have a couple of questions about roll cages..I've already found out how you guys are painting them via searching. But I have a few more questions

What has to be notched behind the dash? any metal? Should I invest in a new plasma cutter?

Welding, I can run a pretty damn good bead with stick or mig, what rod do you guys reccomend or what wire? For the mig i have a little 125 hobart gasless mig, would It be better to weld with argon?

Last question, the car has T tops, I want to be able to take them out and cruise the car, would a wolfe Roll cage have enough room to undo the t top lever? I have skinny hands so I would hope it wouldn't be much of a hassle..
Thanks in advance guys... -Richard

Plasma cutter would be nice but I used a cutoff wheel. Yes you will be able to open or close t tops. I used a Craftsman 250. 50 amp 220v. Mig w argon but I'm just a gearhead not a pro. This is short cause I'm typing on damn kindle.

The notch at drivers side dash only for Wolfe cage. Maybe 4" wide and as deep. I had to do pie like cuts so plasma would be cleaner for sure but no one will ever see it. Pulling and reinstalling dash was most pita for me. I still have an electrcal connector under dash that I cant find what it plugs into. Haha mark them w tape and number them asa you remove
