55W HIDs Melt 98-02 Camaro Fog Lamp Housings?

Question 55W HIDs Melt 98-02 Camaro Fog Lamp Housings?
Anyone know if you can use 55W HID ballasts or will they melt the 98-02 Camaro Fog Lamp Housings? Or do you have to use the 35 watt ones? I will be using the ones from DDM Tuning...

55W in fog lamps totally defeats the purpose of fogs. 35W HID has about the same lumens output as halogen 65W high beams, 55W HID is way beyond that.

55W HID is pointless for most applications.

the 55w are pointless for the small reflective area, go with the 35w

35w HID has damaged the chrome in some Camaro fog lights.
55w HID definitely will.

Thanks all, just verifying what I though I knew already. Curse GM for giving us such poor performing fog lamps which seem to be for looks only...

How long have you had it?
Look inside, the chrome will most-likely be burnt.
