4th Gen trans am to camaro dash swap
I have been searching this forum up and down about dash swaps, I have a 1994 Z28 and am trying to install 99 Trans am dash, have gauges from a 96 trans am and spliced gauge cluster harness using a service manual for a 94 and a 96 f-car. The only difference I see is the orange wire goes to fuse 4 PCM Bat on 94 and on a 96 it goes to fuse 8 courtesy. I turn on car after splicing wires and speedo/tach/water temp/ do not work. When I turn lights on the fuel gauge goes from full to empty. I color matched wire for wire and also used service manual to compare camaro pin out to the trans am pin out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will try to post the pin outs for both year models I am talking about.

I would go back and re-check your wires. In my old 95 Trans Am I have had both a 96 and 97 cluster used without a problem. Well, the 97 had a issue with the seatbelt warning light staying on, but all the gauges worked perfectly. Since your car is a 94, maybe go back wire the connector to the spec of a 94 Trans Am. Somewhere along the way I would bet a wire or a couple( possibly a ground) are not where should be as this work no problem, or theres just a problem with the gauge cluster itself. Do you know the car it came out of. If it was wrecked, did the cluster get exposed to water from sitting in a wrecking yard?

I checked the wiring and it all seems to be correct. A 94 Trans Am and 96 cluster pinout are practically identical. But I realized that they gauges are from a 97 with mechanical odometer, so I was wondering if anyone had the pin out diagram for 97 Trans am cluster?

I dont think the wiring changed at all. Like I said, I had a 97 digital odo cluster plugged into my 95 with no changes to the wiring and all worked perfectly except for the seat belt light, but that issue had to do with wiring changes elsewhere in the 97's.
I always go to the public library, ours have all the huge dealer service manuals which has every wiring diagram in the car in detail.

Got it to work, there must have been something wrong with the first gauge cluster because I bought another one on ebay and plugged it in and it worked like a champ! Thanks again for the words of wisdom.

Do you happen to have pics of the final product? Or a step by step. I just did the exact same swap.
Keep in mind you LT4vert you did a t/a to t/a swap. The 93-96 camaros had a completely different dash and cluster. 97 was the only lt1 fbody that had a compatcluster with the birds.
