Who told you that was a 2000? Looks like a standard 93-97 Trans Am with an aftermarket hood. Did you run the VIN?

Car history says no this doesn't mean much and it's from a dealer clean title

To answer your question, your rear bumper looks just like a bumper of a Trans Am.

I have to admit I'm confused why the dealer calls this car a 2000 Trans Am but clearly its a 1997 model (even the taillights look like a '97).

If you want to double-check this, look at a 1997 Trans Am vs. 2000 Trans Am on ebay and see for yourself

if the title says 2000 AND the body numbers match the VIN, the front and rear parts have been changed at some point.

If you paid $2000 and it has an ls1, that's a great deal. I wouldn't be complaining. More than likely it was hit at some point and someone swapped panels. That's a lot of work to swap from an ls front end to an lt1 style front end... For $2000 just enjoy it.

93-02 are the same from the doors back. The only thing changed was the tail lights. If that's what the VIN says, that's what it is. From the brackets under the hood, it looks like it was originally a 98-02 car, and now wears a 93-97 front end. Sort of like mine.
