Default Modified f-body steering wheel.

Ok, so I'm finally getting some previews of my wheel back. It's not done, there's still more mods they are doing to it, but here's a quick preview.

Stay tuned.

Thanks. More mods are to come. They actually messed up the thumb grips, and are redoing them to be more pronounced.

I'm not sure why you can't see the pics 2ToeRacing.

Very nice. Are you trying to do anything special with the air bag cover?

Once I get it back, I'll fit the airbag and see how it looks. I'm not opposed to recovering the airbag, but don't know who does that kind of thing.

Nope. It's a local shop that is doing the work.

I would have thought there would have been more buzz about this considering the lack of options out there for a modified f-body wheel, while keeping the functional airbag and radio controls.

Oh well, maybe when I get the wheel and have installed pics it'll spark more interest.

Well, here's what the wheel looks like right now, but they messed it up and are redoing it.

The final product will look much different.

I thought you were going flat bottom?!? I feel like most of these unique mods don't get the attention they deserve. 95% of owners could never justify spending over $500 on a wheel I'm sure. I feel like you do though, the wheel is something you always have your hands on why not make it awesome. I really enjoyed the interior upgrades I have done so far. I'm not a fan of the carbon fiber but I know you have some of that already inside. I'm excited to see the final product though, the thumb grips do need to be a little bigger.

Well, they messed up my wheel, and are redoing it, but that at least gives an idea of what the look will be.

The thumb grips will be more pronounced, the center section will be carbon covered just like the top and bottom, and the bottom will be converted to a flat bottom as well.

I should have new pictures of it hopefully by the end of this week.

As for the airbag cover, I'm not sure what to do. I hadn't planned to do anything with it, because I'm not sure what can be done, so I will have to wait till I get the wheel in my hand, and put the airbag on it, and see how it looks.

When I discussed it with Redline, they kind of told me they couldn't do much with the airbag cover. Adding material might be a liability/cause the airbag to not work as intended. I think it is something you have to see with the finished product, might look alright.

I may just take the cover and dye it darker black, then paint the arrow head red.

Cost is relative to how many boxes you check for modifications. As it sits right now, with just rewrapping the wheel in carbon fiber and new leather, is around 450, but I checked every single box, including making it a flat bottom, adding pistol grips to the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, carbon fiber on the center and back of the wheel, so as you can imagine the cost has gone up, double. In my mind, it's worth it though to have a truly one of a kind piece, that my hands will be touching the entire time I'm in the car. So in the scheme of things, the price tag is worth it to me.

Here you can see the mods being done to the front of the wheel.

And here is the back.

So I'm waiting to see how it looks after all the mods are done to it.

Okay, you've peaked my interest...

Good on you for not being afraid of dropping the coin required to break the mold. Subbed for finished pics.
