Do you guys think it would be plausible to purchase a large sheet of ABS plastic, cut the desired shape and paint it black (to hide sanding marks from leveling off cutting plastic)?

One side of that stuff is usually smooth. So it wouldn't be bad to paint it

I'd hit it with black wrinkle spray paint for texture.

That's how th splitters are made.. though I'm pretty sure they use water jet cutter to cut theirs.. but absolutely doable. A local friend of mine did this... He has some pics around here somewhere

On 6LE's site, it says they use 1/4" ABS plastic.

No need to paint to remove sand scratches. Just sand it fine, like 400 grit then hit it all evenly with a heat gun and it will all flow together and look like a perfect smooth edge

How easy would it be to bend the abs? Does it become malleable with heat? The only thing I dont like about splitters on the camaro is where it gets close to the wheel well. I hate the straight edge look and I think it would look sweet if you were able to curve it up so it sweeps up to meet the curve of the bumper.

you can heat and shape it pretty easily depending on the thickness. Ive used heat guns to do it but it takes a while to get the right amount of heat to it. Father inlaws frend that runs an upholstry shop use the stuff to build shells for custom interior panels. the use a rosebud attachment on a torch to heat an entire sheet of the stuff and go from there. Ive never watched them do it but I have seen the end result they have made some crazy shapes out of the stuff. the downside is depending on how much you stretch it, it will distort and warp the textrure a bit.
