Default NEW:)Metal Console Lid97-02FBody

Just received this console lid last night. I'll post more pics uninstalled and installed when I get home later today. Hoping everything matches up but it's BY FAR, a stouter piece than factory. All aluminum, even the button and latch. Love the feel of the foam padding as well. Anyone else tried this one?

First thing I thought was anodized aluminum and was thinking of all the severe right forearm burns

It looks like it is fabric wrapped though which should help.

I looked at that one. They had a pic of a bunch of cinder blocks sitting on top of it to show strength. Since there was no deflection, I assumed that padding was nonexistent, and skipped it.

The padding is nice and dense. And it's not like the factory piece where it'll spread out due to weight being on it and crack. It's an aluminum "frame" that seems it will last the time of the car. If anything you've got a solid piece to recover years down the road. The latch works wayyy better than the factory piece ever did as well. It too is also all metal.

Looks nice. I've never broken any of mine, but I see other cars with the damaged lid all the time.

Do they also offer them in '97-'99 Dark Gray? I guess it could always be re-covered to match.

I didn't look for gray but you could check with them on the site. It could easily be taken apart and rewrapped by an upholsterer.

No problem!I know there's a large demand as I've been looking for over a year! After the guy on the forums here doing the custom ones kinda disappeared I looked for more options. This is my choice and couldn't be happier!

Correct but Amazon doesn't make it, I'm curious who makes it and if they offer any other parts.
