New steering wheel |
Looks good* |
who makes that stern wheel? |
It is a Viilante Leggera |
Looks plush |
Thanks guys! Pretty pleased with how it turned out. Now just need a chance to drive it with it installed. It decided to get cold and start sleeting.. |
How did you deal with the SRS light? Did you install a resister in airbag wiring to 'trick' it, or take the bulb out of the cluster? I'm going to be doing this soon and not sure which is the 'easiest' method. |
Well didnt have much luck with the resistor method. Probably didnt do something correctly so i will look into it later. If you are just wanting to hide the light taking the cluster out and covering it from the backside isnt hard. Youll already be that far into the dash so dropping the column to get it out isnt too much more. However i do believe the pass airbag wont work if the resistor isnt there. I will try it again in the future but i dont have anyone ride with me very often so not overly concerned with it. |
When i did the resistor, i removed the air bag wire from the column, cut the wire close to the connector but left about 5 inches, soldered in the 2.2 ohm resistor and surrounded all the connections and the resistor with hot glue for insulation and protection. Then plugged it in and tucked it up. Its been working fine for 5 years. |
Is the 2.2 ohms work for all fbodies or do you have to measure through the air bag and match it like with the keys and the vats? |

Thanks hopefully that will get it fixed. |
if you can't find any let me know. I am pretty sure I still have some. I had to buy them offline. I dont mind giving you one. Just PM me with your address and ill send it snail mail in an envelope. |
This is why i like this forum. Jax i appreciate the offer. Pm sent. |
I just checked my resistors. I don't have a 2.2 ohm unless I'm looking in the wrong spot. I have a 220 ohm one though. Can anyone confirm which resistor it is for the air bag? Look at how I got glued it together Resistor link |
The 2.2 resistor did the trick. No more air bag light and i assume the passenger one will still work. Thanks jax for the help. |

Also for anyone looking for resistors that small, I found a variety pack of resistors at The Source (what RadioShack is called in Canada now) that had this size in it that was fairly cheap. |
You will find a thick yellow wire under the dash that goes to the steering column and up to the steering wheel. it has a green and white wire in it. Just cut the wire on the steering wheel side of the plug and Solder one end of resistor to the green and the other end to the white, basically making a loop. Insulate with tape or shrink tubing and you are done. |

Awesome, great info guys, thanks for the extra description / pics. |
