I don't understand....

I've read some posts that say to Polish and then Wax. I have also read some posts that say Wax then Polish, which is it. I washed m car and I have clay bar'd it now I want to use Meguiar's Carnuba Paste wax and Meguiar's Ultimate Polish, which goes first or does it not matter?

Always wax LAST.

The polish is to bring out the finish of the clear. The wax is to protect the clear. No point waxing and then buffing it all off.

So the Polish works like a lite compound?

Yes, polish as a noun is a compound. I think maybe your confusion is that you wax and then polish as a verb... meaning wiping off the wax.
