Get Seat Belt Off Neck
 

Hey all,

I'm looking to make my 2000 Trans Am coupe a little more comfortable to drive, and for starters want to get the damn seat belt off my neck. Aside from making my own custom loops to attach to the head-rest, is there any way anyone's been able to lower the loops to move the seat belt lower down onto the shoulder? Any brackets or anything? Tried searching the forum and all I found were topics about replacements, nothing about adjustments or re-positioning.

I have the same issue. I flipped the belt holders upside down which helped a little. Lately I've been twisting the belt before I put it on just to get the angle a bit more down instead of across and it's manageable. I've yet to find a good fix other than with some custom work.

Oddly enough i did the same belt-twisting thing lol, it just gets annoying after a while. I also tried some belt clip thing that brought the shoulder and hip straps closer together, but that didn't hold well at all.

I'll try flipping it upside down and see how much it lowers the belt, thank you!

I'm also just looking for a single plastic or metal bracket that I can use to move the loop mount down a couple inches. Something like in the link below might work. The screw holes should line up (1 inch apart) and I can move the loop down an inch or two.

If the holder was on the seat instead of the headrest it would solve the problem. Or if the mount was on the pillar instead of the roof. Just a bad setup all around

I ordered those metal brackets, I'll let you know how they work out.

I ended up installing a cage to get the belt off my neck.... Well, it was one of the reasons.

Just go to WalMart & pick up a package of the plastic clips, that holds the two belts together.

There’s a more rounded set too, that works better.
These will help bring the belt down off your chest, & hopefully relieve the neck area.

So the brackets are in (thank you Amazon prime lol), and the hole spacing seems to line up perfectly. Unfortunately though, the shiny metal strip sticks out like a sore thumb, so I'm gonna paint em black.

Plus I need to find some small bolts to attach the belt loop to the bracket. I'll take pics when done.

I tried clips similar to those, but they kept popping open. Heck for 3 bucks I'll give those a try too, they might be better quality. Thanks!
