Broken driver's side mirror..help!

My manually adjustable drivers side mirror quit working. I pulled the mirror off the car and it has four tiny cables that go to the adjusting toggle inside the car and hook to the back of the mirror. Well it looks like one of the cables has actually pulled loose from the back of the mirror(plastic is broken). Do I now have to replace the entire mirror assembly?

If so, does anyone have a spare, black, manually adjustable drivers side mirror assmbly for sale?

Thanks
D

Same exact thing happened to me awhile ago. A mirror rebuild kit is $27 from GMPD, I'll see if I can pull up a part number for you. It's a Camaro right?

BTW: For right now. If you cut all the wires you can get it the mirror to stay in place where you want it with some double sided tape (if done right it will be non visible). That's what I did a couple of months ago and it's still that way.

I believe that this is the P/N for the manual rebuild kit 12528880. You should probrably double check with a dealer though because my parts manual can be alittle unclear at times. :)

Yes it is a camaro. Thanks lot for your help. Does it say what the rebuild kit entails?
I took the mirror off the car and took it apart. The cables are made into the mirror backing plate. So does the rebuild kit come with the mirror, backing plate/cable assembly and the metal tripod thing that mount it all inside the mirror housing?

Thanks again bro...

A buddy told me about someone who had a manual mirror break like this 3-4 times, so I just bit the bullet and replaced it with a power mirror. It's still manually adjustable.

Looking at the pic in the catalog it deffinatly comes with the mirror, wires and nob. I'm not sure if it comes with the tripod or not but the catalog says you only need to reuse the housing so it might come with it. The old tripod can be reused just in case, right?

Excellent...thanks a lot..

Your welcome. :)

Had to end up buying a whole new mirror assembly($67). Had to have it painted($35).
All is well now. That part number is just the mirror glass itself. Thanks again Muscle...

But the mirror glass has to come with the cable and handle since it's pressed and sealed into the back of the glass, right?

I don't guess so...I gave the part number to my GM parts guy and that's what he told me....?

Hmm...I'll have to check that out when I order mine. Thanks for the heads up. :)
