Default front end bra in rain?

Does anyone use their car bra constantly or leave it attached permanently? Is it safe to drive with them in the rain or do they get water soaked and weighted down? I have a wolf bra to put on the front of my c5 corvette but am curious if its safe to be driven in the rain? Anyone else use wolf bras or ever used a wolf bra? Or any bra for that matter?

I have a bra for my 2002 Formula, but I only use it on long trips. I had it on all the time when I first bought my car to protect the front end. Over time I had some dirt get behind it, and it left some minor scuffs. Nothing wrong with it getting wet, just take it off once in a while to clean underneath it.

Have seen more cars damaged by a car bra than protected by a car bra. Dirt behind bra leading to scratches and bra rubbing paint.

I'd so the clear protective film and skip the bra if concerned about protecting.

The thing is my front bumper is the worst part of the car in terms of paint. Has minor spider cracks the rest of the car is clean. So your saying the bra can be used permanently no need to remove in rain? I think its a leather or some type of jacket material any idea what wolf bras are made out of i like the colgan ones the best theyre 250$ on ebay for c5 corvette but ive seen them on camaros used long term.

Either that or purchase a 520$ new front c5 bumper. Certifit doesnt make the c5 front bumpers anymore theres one local that had them priced at 377$ but theyre discontinued. I see 98-02 camaro bumpers new with more design then c5 corvette bumpers are 230$ on ebay new it must be the corvette mark up.

Now the paint isnt too bad i just waxed it but the front bumper has some spider webs and i had bondo repaired a crack by the front drivers side marker light and right under the drivers side headlight you can see some paint imperfections. Its possible as new bumper is 520$ + expensive shipping corvette mark up that i just use this wolf bra permanently for the black or red look no? It attaches by 3 hooks on top 3 hooks on bottom. and velcro i think under headlight area and around inside of front fenders. I got it for a good deal a corvetteforum member gave it to me if i paid shipping which was 15 bucks bra is in great shape just need to by the opposite velcro attachment tape which is maybe 10$ a roll of the hook side velcro from amazon and cut it in sections to match the bras velro attachment areas.

Anyone have a wold bra or pictures of it or any bra pictures i think colgan c5 bra on ebay looks the best.? So its safe to leave on year round and drive thru rain without removing it let it dry out the front bumpers the worst part of my car in terms of paint. I attached photos. Anyones camaro transam or corvette bra pictures. The novi stretch bra looks cheap and see thru.
Know where to get the black leather looking c5 mirror bras that would make the mirrors look black and does anyone have them or pics of them?

Your car looks good what about covering the nose with that 3M Scotchgar clear protective film or similar that's so popular? It's like $25 a roll. There might be a better choice of film etc. I'd not put on bra on your red c5 personally.

Absolutely NOT saying a bra can be used without damage. I would never use a bra on any car I cared about the paint. Bra's are very good at causing damage, especially over time. Bra's are good for hiding damage and otherwise pretty worthless from what I've seen over the years.

I'd skip the cost of the bra and use the funds toward a repair/repaint of nose when needed. Then after the nosexis how you want it, I'd use the 3M Scotchgar clear protective film or similar that's so popular.

YMMV

I agree, but it sounds like this is exactly what the OP is trying to do. Sounds like the overall bumper condition (paint, crack repair, etc.) is pretty rough and a new piece + paint would be needed, or the bra would be used as an alternative to hide the issues. And it sounds like he already has a bra that was of marginal cost to him (so, much cheaper than paint + new bumper). At that point, it just comes down to styling taste - either you like the look or you don't. *I* wouldn't do it, simply because I don't like the look, but that's really up to the individual.

The car looks pretty decent in the pictures from what I can tell.

Definitely up to the individual.

I've had both a bra and the film on different vehicles. A quality bra for my old Chevy Venture minivan (when we delivered newspapers) was a real pain. Highway flapping was just one irritation and it certainly scuffed the paint. Dirt did accumulate underneath no matter how well attached. Thank heavens it was on a minivan and not on one of my cars. Lesson learned.
Expensive film was put on my C6 when the car was new back in 2009 by the dealership owner. While it did it's job while in my possession for the most part, the constant comments at the car shows/cruises I attended was, "How did you get that scratch?" Whether the mirror area or the fender area or the front nose, wherever the film met the paint looked like a slight scratch. Waxing, whether paste, liquid, or spray, left the edges of the film 'noticeable'. I did everything to make it blend, from alcohol to degreasers, but it was no use. I will never use anything on any car again. Time (too much of it) and money wasted.
I will re-paint or repair any damage before spending $$$ on either one again. That's my experience anyway.
I have nothing on my 3 rides now and I'm as pleased as possible. Naked is good!!

Paint on hood was scuffed by a quality bra.

Protective film on front was mistaken for scratches when looking close.

No bras, no film, just naked fronts. I like it.
