Painted my rear bumper CETA style
I just painted the rear bumper of my '94 TA like the Collector's Edition Trans Am, with the black lower valance between the exhaust tips.

(there are some scratches on the bumper from it's previous owner, and they look alot worse in the pictures than in real life thanks to all the dust from sanding the bumper )
I decided to remove the bumper in order to make it easier. I used some textured flat black bumper spray by Duplicolor, as I didn't want a glossy black. The Duplicolor stuff is also supposed to be flexible enough to not start flaking off. Unfortunately the car had been repainted by one of it's previous owners, and not by a very good shop either. There was little prep-work done before they painted it, so I had to do quite a bit of sanding to get through all the layers of clear. I made sure to mask off all I didn't want to paint, and I then sanded with 400-grit sand paper, followed by cleaning it off with some wax/debri remover to get all the extra crap off (straight acetone or toluene would work too). I then wet sanded it with 1000-grit to get some of the rougher scratches out that the 400-grit left. I didn't sand it totally smooth as I needed something for the paint to bond to, and I chose to wet sand it because I felt so inclined . I put on lots and lots of small coats, making sure to get them even as possible to avoid any running from overspray.
All in all it turned out pretty good, and the texturing definately looks much nicer than I had predicted. Some people may not care for the textured look, but it's my car and I like it, so that's all that matters . Feel free to give your opinions . I haven't put the bumper on the car yet, but I'll post the pictures when I put it back on.

I did mine about 8 months ago. Actually, I had a body shop do it because they were putting new bumpers on anyway.
I am REALLY glad I did it. I think it gives the rear of the car a more aggressive look.. Here are befores and afters.
btw.. I don't have those ugly stock tips anymore. FINALLY upgraded to the Borla catback.
Hey .... goood job on doing it yourself man. Looks good.

Thanks for the input everyone . I put up some more pictures of the bumper on the car, although I still haven't had a chance to wash it yet .
UGOT8 - Your car looks great man , quite a bit of contrast between the white and black. When I eventually get my car repainted I'll have it done right by a professional. But until then I don't think mine looks too bad for less than $15 .
