I bought a polished grille and a buddy of mine powdercoated it for me.

I originally wanted the black grille, but MTI was out at the time, so I figured I could always get it powdercoated if I don't like it.

Maybe you can email the seller and ask him if he carries them.

From the afterthoughts website: We believe we have a source for powder coating and hope to offer black grilles again in early 2005

I've been looking for one for a while, too.

Summit only has the Polished and Brushed:
I've never seen any on MTI's site.

Thanks for this suggestion. How do these compare to Stull? I know they are both made of 6061-T6 aluminum, but how's the fit, and are there the same number of cross bars? Does anyone have pics other than the one from Carriage Works?

Stull quite making Black. I got burned bad, by buying what was supposed to be a black one from an aftermarket company that is not a sponsor of this site. A silver one showed up. with resistance from the company, I sent it back. After forever, they sent me back a black one. I took one look at it and new it had been spray painted. They didn't even let the paint dry and bubble wrapped it. They threw it back in the box and sent it to me. It even had the same shipping label on it from the first time they sent it to me. After a lot more trouble, they credited me half the money so I coul dhave it stripped and powder coated locally. During all of this, I called Stull directly and was told that they had stopped making black grilles at least 6 months prior.

Yeah I called Stull on the phone; you're right, they discontiued the black one. I couldn't even talk them into making me one as a special order item. I didn't like their attitude. I think I'm going to build my own; I have a welder that will weld aluminum. I just need to find a place to get it powder coated.

An update on the black Stull grille....Stull discontinued the black option. For the past year we were able to get them to continue making them as long as we ordered a minimum quantity. Before Christmas they decided they wouldn't do them at all regardless of the quantity. We have found a source to continue powder coating them for us and the quality is great. We just picked up a sample today and plan to have more made and put the black option back up on our site in the next week. Unfortunately due to the added cost involved we won't be able to run any specials on the black option, but there won't be any price hike either.
...
Thanks,
Deanne

This was posted on 2/1, so we could be seeing the Stull back up on their site very soon .
