hard into t-tops?? i was wondering how much this costs?? i was also thinking and if you beefed up the fram could you do a targa?? camaro targa would be bad ass, just something diff i guess. |
both been dont, when i had my other camaro it cost me about 450 alltogether to convert it to t-tops |
what about targa?? |
targa seems cool but i dont think it would be that cool, kinda odd |
so what kind of shop wold do this?? 450 is about what it would cost?? |
????? |
i spent about $300 for parts (t-tops, pillars, weather strips, black center piece) and rental for the sawzall. do a search for ttop conversion and you should find instructions on how to do it yourself. |
lol yeah i woulnt trust myslef with a sawza on my car. |
Just to avoid misconception, the term t-top is short for targa top. When GM introduced the targa top into the 1968 Corvette, the bar was added to combat the body flex that resulted (which onefastfox knows about because he did ask about beefing up the frame for a pure targa). What we look at and refer to on F-Bodies is a GM targa top. While a lot of people think that the t-top is a seperate entity, enthusiasts who know where the term came from can take it both ways. Someone who leaves their Camaro at a shop to get a targa top installed may very well end up with the standard two removable panels if specifics aren't discussed. Just thought I would throw that out there. In answer to the original question with some very careful thought about the body flex a one piece targa could be done but it would probably be quite a bit of expense to do and do correctly. |
I believe Whistler did a Targa top conversion on his camaro. I think he use to post on CamaroZ28.com, but im not sure, i remember seeing pics of it though and i thought it looked amazing. |
so what do you think i would pay someone or a shop to do this?? |

Loved my Targa on the 87 vette:) Good luck |
a guy named whistler did do the 1 piece targa. it was very tight! do a search on here and you can find it he used to post on here. hes the only other person i ever saw that did major custom bodymods on a forth gen. he did a lot of crazy bodymods including a molded c5 taillight conversion. |
somebody post up some pics ! |
a targa top camaro would be very cool I think, but I'd be worried about Flexing issues. Brad |
