Default gas cap

ok I didn't search but i doubt there is too many. any way i don't know why GM left the gas tank so accesible. I hate the fact that anyone can go put anything in there, ricers, or haters. anyone found the solution or ideas?

It was on my T/A when I bought it, but I'd think you should be able to get one at any auto parts store. I know I had one on my 96 Z28 and I bought it at O'Reilley's for pretty cheap (like $15 or so- I can't remember exactly).

Looks like O'Reilly's has 2 available on their website. One for $12.99 & one for $14.99

They shouldn't be tough to find. Most auto shops should have them. They do here, and I'm in the hinterland of NA.

Locking gas cap here from Auto Zone...as long as you keep the lock lubed, you won't ever have a problem getting it open.

It will somewhat depend on your year though as the 98's had a different gas tank.

I got mine from GM I like it, it spins freely when locked which would make it hard for someone to pry

nope, 98's do have a different cap. When my friend went to smog his 2000 he didt pass because of the gas cap. so we took mie off of my 98 and it didnt fit. so they changed it somewhere along the line

That's what I thought...I did a search for locking gas cap before I found mine, and found that little tidbit of info in some posts along with the part number I needed.

Sorry been a couple years since we bought them. Friend of mine went to the local pontiac or chevy dealer and they were able to look it up for him.
