Default Pictures w/ 18" SSR GT1's and C5 Brake Kit

Been rather busy the last month or two with exterior mods. Got the Raptor hood first and then went for the 18" SSR GT1's. But then the brakes looked too small so I had to upgrade

The kit is a non sponsor kit that is much cheaper than some of the others out there and was discussed in depth in the brakes section. The issue was aluminum vs steel for the brackets. This is a fantastic kit and went on without any issue whatsoever.

I'm going to be ordering these kit with the PBR Calipers since it'll be easy to paint them whatever color and then put any kind of lettering on there. I'm sure they are a big upgrade for an LT1 car with the smaller disc and calipers and a lot cheaper than Wilwood or Baer.

I don't have them on my car, haven't tried them out yet, but like I said it has to be better than the stock LT1 front brakes! This past weekend I drove a C5 for the first time and yea the braking performance is crazy, especially with the ESP system on or whatever it is called.

The brakes look good, but I LOVE the wheels. I have always wanted a set of GT1s but I dont have that kind of money. Very nice car man.

I think so. When I saw it in person, I was like " Trans Am?...Where's the raised corvette letters?"

Factory C5 calipers don't have the raised Corvette lettering, only the Z06 calipers have that. I got a set off of a junked C5, rebuilt them, and put them on. The decals can be bought and I had the calipers coated.

Everyday driving performance in traffic and such isn't much of a difference. It does stop a bit faster and the pedal is noticeably firmer, but it's not a huge difference. The big difference is when you really mash on the brake or are doing some spirited driving through some curves. You can REALLY tell the difference them.

The link provided is right where I bought mine from. I dealt with Tobin there and he was a VERY VERY nice and easy person to deal with. He kept me informaed of the status of the order, answered any and all questions I had, and even sent me an email afterwards to make sure I was happy with it. For the price and the service given, they really can't be beat IMO.

Oh.. for some reason I thought they all said corvette... and the Z06s were red with gray raised letters where the standard was gray with red raised letters...

that kit can still work fine with Fbody calipers though, right? from my understanding C5 calipers and Fbod calipers dont really have much of a difference.

thanks
Louie

That is correct. The exterior dimensions of them are the same and you can use either ones. Therefore the mounting points will be the same. When I laid my new calipers next to the factory F-body ones, I couldn't tell the difference. However, the pads are different. That was the only difference that any sponsor site or the brake kit company could give me. The calipers are virtually the same on the outside, but the pads are diffrent.

Supposedly they are better yes. They are definitely cheaper too. According to several sponsors as well as the company who makes the brake kit, they are not interchangeable. They of course could be wrong.

Oh and another tip. This is from an AutoX friend of mine with a Z06. Told me to go to Napa and buy just the blanks they sell for the Vette. $24.99 a piece for 13" Vette Rotors!. They work VERY well and are TONS cheaper than everywhere else I looked.

Those rims were what I wanted on my Formula. They're EXTREMELY light. I think it looks great.
