I'm really begining to hate black paint

Getting the car ready for the next show, and the nose is speckled, looks like something happened to the clear, it's not pealing or spider webbing, bit it looks like its been speckled with some chemical thats dulled the clear (it's only on the nose)
I tried the Menzerna IP&FP along with the PC, and it made no difference at all, so anything else I can do before I just call and see what reclearing the nose costs (prefer something that I can get at the local parts store, but will consider all options)
Tried to get a pic, but it won't show up

that's why i bought a silver car, keeping black clean is a full time job.

:) mines white and the only way you can tell its dirty is if something rubbed up on it, I've had enough of black cars

2K2WS6TA May 31, 2006 05:41 PM

I said never again would I have a black car, but it looked so damn good in black that I had a lapse of sanity :bang:

welcome to the club i have the same shit on the front of my car it sucks...... at least you have black Z06 wheels i have TT II's after i get the paint looking nice i still have to polish my rims... lol

SmokeySS May 31, 2006 06:44 PM

I don't see how it would get on the nose, but I do know most of the time I use tire wet products they get slung around. I'm not going to buy Black Magic's foam because they stuff sprays everywhere no matter the distance you hold it from the tire. I have little, greasy black specks from it around the fenders.

Do you think you could use a paint cleaner and/or clay on it to remove your contaminants, then polish?

I've done the clay, and the polish, it hasn't touched it, still looks the same (kind of like a chemical etch, but I haven't followed any chemical transporters to my knowledge)

Try flourescent lighting or sun angles please. I want to try and see and then maybe ZaneO or Chupokobra can help you. I know I'd have difficulty showing you the stupid grease specks from the tire foam but keep trying.

My car has that and its silver. I tried clay and still nothing. I wounder if I use harsher clay if it will come out? Or maybe wet sanding?

2K2WS6TA May 31, 2006 09:03 PM

They look great when clean, but any little thing stands out like a hooker at a nun convention

:jest: Exactly. The only black cars that look consistently good are the garage queen ones driven only on nice summer days and owned by people with OCD and a vast knowledge of keeping paint in good condition.
