Repainting black engine bay to get some shine?

Repainting black engine bay to get some shine? Not a total repaint and not even pulling the motor, just looking to add some gloss and depth to the sides of the engine bay. I'm in the process of hiding wires, painting & polishing misc stuff, and adding some bling. The overall engine bay is just dull. I read that someone on here repainted with two stage & clear coat. Any tips? I would like to just remove and tape off as much as possible.

its been done, in fact i plan on doing this spring time.
Tips? Some guy on here used Bondo i think it was or some kind of filler to smooth out the surface and fill in the holes and what not. looked really clean. I suck at painting but one thing i learned about painting is not to rush! it really takes patience. i see you got FRC's which really clean up the engine. don't use colored wire loom, it creates more chaos and junkiness.
My best advice: Try to keep it simple

FRC's are getting ditched and I'm going with polished valve covers and relocated coil packs to clean it up. I don't want to go crazy with bondo and all, I was thinking more along the lines of some quality spray cans or maybe even just spraying on some clear coat? Anything has to be better than the flat black....

search for the threads where people did the wire hiding mods. they explain how to cover holes and paint etc etc. black will be the easiest since you won't have a hard time matching color shades.

You really need to fill in the holes if you want to make it look perfect...You can either use bondo as said above your weld them up and smooth it off. Either way I really think the holes need to be filled.
