Default Powdercoating Lingenfelter Alum. Intake?

Simply... will it stand the ~400 degrees for ~24 minutes?

Thanks!

Well, powdercoating and painting aren't the same thing.

P'coating requires "baking" the finish on in an oven @ 400 degrees for ~24 minutes.

Just wondering if that would damage the intake itself.

A guy I just did an intake for had his powder coated silver and it didn't last. Make sure you prep it well.

Here's a thread of what I did for him... (and his intake) after he got tired of the flaking powdercoat.

I think he was asking if the intake itself could handle the heat, not if the powercoat would last

Yeah that intake will with stand 800 degrees if it had to. Aluminum wont distort unless you go higher than that.

Plenty of breathing room when it comes to powder coating, like I said, it's all about the prep work, do it right the 1st time. ~Joshua

Cuz I bet Josh (as AWESOME as his work is) couldn't do mine for $50!

My powdercoat guy owes me some moneys!!!

All I have to do it take it off and take it to him (about 10 minutes driving!). He's going to clean, media blast, tape off, prep and coat all for $50.

Glossy black too! Should look good on my Black WS6!

I dont know if you have already finished your powdercoating but if not...there are different types of powders used in powder coating. The three main types are Polyester, Epoxy and Acrylic. Depending on the type you use, it may or may not work. There are companies that sell high temp powders that will withstand constant temps up to 1000 degrees farenheit. If your buddy has all of the equipment, you could just buy the powder and ask him to use it instead of what he may have on him (all powders use the same gun and cure at close to the same temp). It is only like 10 to 15 bucks for a pound of high temp powder after shipping costs (a pound is WAY more than enough but the smallest size you'll find). PM me for where to get it (it is not a sponsored sight) although I doubt any of the sponsored sights carry powder coating material.

(edit): I just realized you were concerned about the intake not the powder. But perhaps it is something to consider and maybe someone else will find it helpful.

That is something I hadn't considered...

I'll look into that, thanks!
