Default sunoco wide hood?

what do you guys think of this hood, keep in mind that with this car im going to be putting in a 454bbc and monsterous turbo..so yes hood clearance is an issue, but on the other hand with the normal sunoco hood becoming so prevalent, why not change up the look a bit

I like it, not quite more than the Sunoco, but ALOT better than the traditional squared off cowl hoods you can buy for LS1 Camaros.

I love it but only on a drag car. Definitely doesn't suite a street car.

brian why do you say not for a street car, b/c of how big the cowl is, according to VFN they say from inside the cockpit, its got the visibility of a 2-3inch cowl..so that in itself is appealing

i dont like it at all. IS your car a purpose built track car or a street car? Cause if its purpose built why not expose that huge turbo? it would be intimidating and it would solve your heat under the hood issue. I think you can find a lot better looking hood is all

its going to be an all out STREET car, not much track time at all, so exposing it, isnt going to happen..i appricate the honesty, but i personally like the hood..which is the great thing about this site, i like what i like you the same, and no one has to be a dick about it..so tired of seeing that

I think the biggest issue with that hood on the street is that you lose your wipers completely. But if you don't ever drive or get caught in the rain it might not be an issue at all.

im sorry i didnt mean to be a dick about it at all cause trust me, i hate the same thing. Normally i wouldnt say wether or no ti like it but you asked and i didnt mean for it to come across rude. If you like it then buy it but if your mind is made up then why ask us what we think? i think you could find a hood that would better suit your car is all. Have you seen the cowl hood that is extra wide? and the cowl is sloped on the sides instead of being srtaight up and down? Theres a car here in town that has it and ive never seen it before and it is sweet! looks like there some extra clearance too

I just think it looks too agressive on a normal street car. I.E. it seems to fit the looks better of a drag car with prostars and wheelie bars type of look.

530 transam i didnt think you were being a dick, i thought you gave your honest opinon which was exactly what i was looking for, dont worry about having to spare my feelings, b/c i dont have any..lol i was wanting to see what others thought, and i dont plan on being in that car when it rains, b/c if i am, then good god im going to die!!! and nemess, its going to be around a 8 second car when all is said and done, but will be on the street as well. so i guess that might warrant the need, and oh yeah 530t/a did you mean the harwood cowl hood, i was looking at it, but with a turbo and a 454bb in there do you think that would accomodate the clearance i would need, xtinctz feel free to chime in, i know how you hate that everyone now has the sunoco, i thought of you when i said the hood was becoming to mainstream now

this has nothing to do with the thread but where in NC are you?

BTW, the hood looks OK but I think maybe VFN could build you a custom done hood that may let you keep your wipers or something

you mean this one?
http://www.4x4truck.net/z28/P1010589.JPG

no thats not the one i meant. This one in town the cowl starts where the headlights are. Uh, this is hard to explain. The cowl tapers down to where the headlight section ends on each inner side. You know what im going to go find a pic lol. It takes up almost the whole hood

this is the hood im talking about but it looks a lot different on a car. Plus the one in twon is body matched so he either has it painted or they make it in fiberglass somewhere. Now that i look at it maybe its not tall enough for what you need but the car in town looks very aggressive with it like its going to scoop up whatevers in front of it and digest it. Plus its the only one ive ever seen. people in town know him by his hood

I'm pretty sure they wont sell you that hood unless you have a pure race car. I don't think they allow it for street use.

hey phantomzero thanks for the heads up, cant hurt to ask, 530t/a that hood would be a good idea, but the car is a 98, and from that site all i saw was for the 93-97, and it does look kinda like the harwood maybe a bit thicker toward the firewall...and tainted, im in raleigh nc about an hr from you, are you at brag? b/c i was at le jeune
