the paint shop will take care of the prep but the hood might need body work... seeing as fiberglass is rarely perfect out of the mold... this is not a big deal but im warning you that if this is needed its not just gonna be a straight sand and paint job it might need some filler work... i had 20 hours of body work done by me on leisure time on leisure time of coarse before i painted mine... also run the hood on the car for at least 2 weeks because the heat from the engine will settle out all the left over solvents that might be trapped in the gel coat and its also a good time to fit it before paint to make sure it fits good... to answer your first qeustion... i drove with my hood for a year before i painted it and you can bet i washed it alot... jsut dont put any wax or anything on it.... good luck man hope this helps ya out..

its cool, the hood is actually functional. theres heat vents in the back and channels to guide the heat out. plus i have just enough room for the main purpose of the hood. lid conversion.
i think its a little better than the glasstek.
