Default PAGING: All PAINTED Sunoco hood owners...

So, I'm finally getting paint soon and I am trying to decide what to do on the BOTTOM of the hood...

1) Paint the whole thing base coat/clear coat like the top...

2) Paint the whole thing base coat MIXED with a little clear coat (for a satin finish that will match the engine bay more)...

3) One of the above but leave the cowl itself raw (owners know what I am talking about)...

4) Save money and just spray it satin BLACK myself and eventually spray the whole engine bay satin black...

What did you guys do? Any pics? What would you recommend?

Also, what did you do on the grille? I plan to have it painted gloss black...

Thanks!

I painted mine just like the top of it. Base and then shot clear. Same with the vent.

If you paint it with the satin look it'll look good but I still think with the clear coat it will look better. But I wouldn't just leave it raw. too much out of place.

My vote goes to shoot it normal with base coat and then clear

So you'd say paint base/clear even the under side of the cowl (not the flat part of the hood, the underside of the cowl itself)?

Did your shop "finish" (smooth) the underside or just spray it?

Thanks Brian!

You've got a very retro look to your car, I'd go old school again and paint it black, as well as your engine bay, like on old muscle cars.

True... How bad would it look to have satin black under the hood though if I don't get to the engine bay for awhile?
