Just installed gauges in front of the shifter (pics)

I got these gauges from my brother for $10 so I thought what the hell I wanted to see what they would look like in front of the shifter.
One is a/f and the other is trans temp.
I went and got some aluminum and went to town with my dremel, took about an hour to trim it all up and gets the holes perfectly round. It is being held in place with 3m ds tape and it wont budge no matter how hard you pull on it, it was 95 out today and it still wouldnt move.

Heres some pics:

I know I wired it to constant power so I need to go back and get that taken care of but I im going to get rid of the a/f gauge because that shit gets annoying at night...looks like a party going on inside my car while driving down the road :drive:
Going to replace it with a water temp gauge.

What do you guys think?

looks good, i get tired of seeing those pillar gauges all the time

CO99Z28Vert 06-19-2007 10:58 PM

Exactly.
A pillar would have been the easy way out but im 6"4 280 and I grab on to the pillar when I get in and I know I would smack my head on it or rip it off.

A couple of friends told me I should paint it but I kinda like the way it looks.

How much did you have to cut out of the dash to get the second gauge in? Any day time close up pictures?

CO99Z28Vert 06-20-2007 08:48 AM

Thanks guys.

I had to cut a 2 1/16 hole through the console for the a/f gauge. I also extended the wires to my convertible top switch and mounted it next to the fog light switch. If I ever wanted to go back to stock all I would need is a shifter console and about 10 minutes.

I will try to get you some close up pics today.
