i bought a slp ss hood through thunder racing for my 02 z28. first of all it was a little expensive but you get what you pay for. it was packaged well and did not need much prep . no scatcheds or chips. it took about seven working days for them to deliver. very satisfied.

You can check out RKsport.com but there about 500 to 600 for the hood's. You can probably get a cheaper price from someone on this forum.

Does the regular SLP air lid work with the SS hood. I was just going to go up to summit racing and get one, but i want to be sure that when i buy it that it all hooks up right and works like it suppose to. I want an OEM style, i really like that look, then i thought about getting the ZR1 rims for it too. It's a red car and i thought the black ZR1 rims would look really neat on it. Thanks for all your guys help.

Don't buy from SLP. Although they have the real OEM hood, it is extremely overpriced. Plus you're still going to have to pay to have it prepped and painted, so you're looking at another $300+.

Just search the nation-wide F-body boards (such as this one) and maybe some of your local ones too. Find a used OEM SS hood and then pay to have it packaged well and buy shipping insurance. Yes, you'll still likely pay for paint (unless you can find one that's the right color for you, which does happen), but it will still end up being MUCH cheaper.

Just make sure it's in good shape. Don't buy any of the hoods that have broken corners, cross-hood cracks, or require repair. I've purchased an SS hood off an SS before and was extremely happy with the results after I had it redone with a painted manta stripe on the scoop.

my hood is oem, straight from the factory. and even if it is oem, its still overpriced. espicially for a domestic car.

IMHO ASCD makes the better one I have had mine on since 2001 and no issues I have had other ASCD hoods never had a problem.

No matter what hood you go with, the SLP will work. Very little air is really drawn through the hood. To say the hood is functional is optimistic.

The Suncoast hood is not a replica 98+ hood. It looks more like the LT1-style SS hood, and I love it. Wish I could find one for cheap for my white Z...

Suncoast has just dropped prices on all Camaro and Firebird hoods, so you may not have to wait as long as you thought. They are available from some of the forum's sponsors (Support your sponsors!). The latest photos and updates are available at www.suncoastramairhoods.com (or the old web addresses at www.suncoastcreations.com, and www.ramairhoods.com )

Also be careful about vendors still listing these hoods as Suncoast Creations. That is the first sign of an out of date description (and probably price). Suncoast Creations is now Suncoast Automotive Performance, Inc. or simply Suncoast. I bought Suncoast Creations last year and I'm working hard to breath life back into what was once a premier Camaro and Firebird supplier. I am open to suggestions, criticisms, bribes/investment, etc. I can be emailed through this forum or any of the customer response forms at our website.

SuncoastPrez.
