TA adam, the ws6 package has been around for many years- my 88 ta was a ws6 (even had little ws6's on the wheel center caps).
What exactly constitutes the package will vary- for example, 3rdgen ws6 had no ram air.

Hardtop WS6 Trans Ams did not exist after the '97 model year. You're limited to the hardtop WS6 Formulas and Firehawk Formulas. I'm assuming that less than 3,000 of them combined were made between 1998 and 2002.
I do have a hardtop, but it is a 2002 Z28. I factory-ordered it that way. However, if I bought the car for looks primarily, then t-tops would have been mandatory since they do enhance the f-body's looks once they're taken off. Not to mention, no one even makes cars with t-tops anymore--making the t-top f-body even more distinctive.

I like my T-Tops for sure. I wouldn't mind a hardtop if i had one, but i just enjoy having the tops down on a nice night, plus it makes the car look even more sporty IMO. Also, i do like having the tops on because i like looking up and having a glass roof...i think it's pretty nice
