Thinkin about making a rear seat delete kit.. If i made one (and of course became a sponsor) what would you guys pay for it? I know alot of you dont buy them cuz they are made of heavy ass wood and whats the point of taking the seats out then adding 15 lbs back in... still 30 lbs but come on! I am gonna make it out of fiberglass, strong, yet light. I will have carpeted and non carpeted versions.. It would probly look like these.. http://www.keliente.com/pewter%2000/sept/delete3.jpg http://www.keliente.com/pewter%2000/sept/delete11.jpg and of course the lighter smaller version: http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/mmF...seatdelete.jpg Think you guys would want something like this? What would you pay for it... |
Dont know what I would pay for it, but it looks pretty cool.......... |
Well naturally it would cost more than wood because the material cost more, and the acual work takes more time.... |
If you're going to do this, do something original. Those other designs are clean but look out of place. Make one that simply ramps down at an angle (as the wall in front of the gas tank does) but extends to where the seat bottoms would have bolted. This will give people an option who want the real "no rear seat" look. People could add speakers to the wall, amps, etc... It won't be for everyone (others like the other versions as a shelf to put things and even storage units) but there will be those who like it much better because it will look less like seats were replaced with plywood and more like seats were never there to begin with :judge: |

Just picture a piece almost right behind the front seats that looks like the factory slope (the hump where the gas tank is visible when the rear seats are gone). |

If you made them for the convertible I would be in. |
Id love to make them for a convertable but I dont have one so... that makes things hard. maybe you could fab one out of wood/cardboard and I could redo it in fiberglass? |
i would deff do it |

This got burried fast.. |
you might wanna rethink this. no matter how good your price on the actual unit is, people are still going to have to pay ridiculous shipping prices from Hawaii. That would certainly deter me. |
Looks sweet, I'd buy the lighter version. Have no idea what I would pay though |

This is another one of those things that everybody wants, but nobody wants to pay for. Most people would either make their own or pay the cost for mass produced versions available. It just isn't worth it to pay someone for the time it'd take to hand make them. |
its funny how so many people think shipping from hawaii is really expensive, shipping here really is not that bad, we have planes coming and going over 100 times a day just on this island, many suppliment companys get their stuff from here, we have a massive company that grows that shit. shipping will not be bad, at all. |
