He's testing the waters for interest. But that is his. Sure would be sad to see the car go. :(

Re: Steve's car?

He can't let it go! Everyone on LS1Tech keeps up with his car... it's our white unicorn...

Why am I selling??? This project is done and time to try something new :)

I can't agree with the statement......or at the least accept it........I don't see why Steve just doesn't just keep and AND move on to the next project......the car is an ICON (of course I'd love to have it. who wouldn't?)

say it AINT so Steve!.......

Re: Steve's car?

The rumors of my selling have been greatly exagerated ;)

Oh, and you guys are slow.. the SLP board had a post about this in only 2 hours.. :jest:

Here is what I said there:
"For me the hobby is about the design and tinkering.. and to tell the truth the car is basicly done. I could keep doing stuff but you can have "too much of a good thing".. -- the last modfest took care of many things that bugged me.. The only place for me to take the car next is into MAJOR rework.. a blower, 12 bolt, k-member and such.. the little stuff is done..

Besides, I doubt I will sell it.. I just get a desire every once and a while to spin a wrench on a 1st get.. maybe a big block or high tech LS6.. Mostly I was curious if it would get any action on Ebay (sort of a spur of the moment thing).. Trust me that I wont loose any sleep if it dosent sell.. Heck, I love the car and enjoy driving it immensley (sp?).. Im sure you will be putting up with my "look at my newest mod" posts for some time to come

I think I also been ticked lately since there has been 3 or so local car events that I cant even attend since its a pre 72 show.. so some guy with a primered 71 Nova can go but no my unworthy new car.. gets sorta old after awhile.

So dont fret.. actually if someone offers my reserve Id not only be surprised but quite giddy.. lol.. Maybe its time to take the car up a notch and toss on a ATI "

Steve1969LS1 Jun 10, 2003 04:33 PM

Re: Steve's car?

So to sum it up.. nobody will hit my reserve price.. However, even if the car wasnt on Ebay and someone came up to me at a show or something and mentioned an amount in the $30k range then I WOULD be tempted to start that first gen project..

Mostly I did it out of curiosity.. you should see all the nice emails and crazy trade offers ive gotten.. lol..

how that for an explanation? :)

Re: Steve's car?

Steve, you know your car is a keeper. Do you regret selling your previous 1st gen?

Blu Beast Jun 10, 2003 11:01 PM

Re: Steve's car?

That makes me feel better........you know that alot of us hold her in the highest regard, and is what we aspire for in our own cars, present company included.......it would be a sadder time these last few years on the boards if "THE Icon" were not so lofty stayed......(did ya like that?...)

Re: Steve's car?

I just could not imagine someone else owning Steve's car. It would be the strangest thing having someone else post about being the new owner.

Honestly, lots of folks have done nice things to their cars, but Steve is the creator of serious modding of the 4th gen. :)

What a loss it would be not having Steve around without his car.

Steve not being allowed into a show is sad, at least where I live you can go to non Camaro shows but do not think about being considered for a trophy.

If I did not own my SS and know what I do now the high 30's would be in your pocket TODAY, if that is what you are looking at as a price. :)

Good luck with your decision Steve, I hope we will not be missing you and you keep the car.

Todd

Re: Steve's car?

Hehe, I remember last yr before steve did all the engine chroming I asked him about the Z06 rims ect and that I'm looking into buying a Camaro. He threw up a price of $23,000 for me to buy it and said he was pretty much was done with the car... Look a year later, lol!

Re: Steve's car?

Thanks for all the comments.. I did just realize i am short a few mods:

Compass/temp mirror
suede leather headliner
better carpet with dynomat
K-member with tubular A-arms
CF drive shaft
whoopity clutch
100shot hardlined Nitros System

Damn.. I guess Im NOT done :D -- well what to do first?? lol

Oh, and yes I do regret selling my 1st gen... just like I regret selling my very first car (64.5 mustang).. I think everyone misses a nice car that they sold even if it was to get a nicer one.. :)

Hey Blu.. your a poet ;)

Re: Steve's car?

$30000 certainly would be nice Steve, and you'd still be losing. I can understand how that could sound sweet.. I think if the right person saw it, that could very well happen.. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm sure you can come up with more than that! That's only about 2 months of mods. After all, you're the one who started, "A mod a week..." :D

Re: Steve's car?

Anyone notice how long the mod list was? And you know that was the abbreviated version.

I agree with Blu Beast. Your car is an icon in the LS1 world Steve. To this day I've never seen a better one.

I see, It hits the magazines and those big wigs with bottemless wallets will probibly cough up a big chunk of $$$$$ I would have to think about mine doing a stand in Ebay.
