What's under da' Grill? What is under the stock plastic grill on the SS? I have heard that there is a body colored grill that reads CAMARO. Is that true? Anyone? |
Re: What's under da' Grill? Not only that, but how do you get the plastic grill off? I haven't even looked at it, but I'm thinking about it. |

Re: What's under da' Grill? yup its painted like your car and reads "CAMARO." to get the grill off, simply pop out the sides, then yank one side like a mutha! seriously though - you just yank it right off. it might feel like you're gonna break it, but it'll pop off. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? looks just like this. Youcan even see where the plastic holds on. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/fc8f1596.jpg |
Re: What's under da' Grill? You might be interested to know that once you yank this off your most likely not going to be able to put the plastic grill back on. The only way to remove it without damaging the grill is to pull the entire front Fascia from the car and unscrewing a couple little nuts at the top of the grill. You should also note that there are about 8 holes that are left behind that grill where the Plastic grill was. for that reason alone some people choose to leave the grill on and others the holes don't bother. They're noticeable but not a big deal. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? So what your saying is that it is true, there is a body colored grill but once you take it off, you can't put it back on, FU[K that. I just want to see what it looks like and if I like it i'll keep it off, if I don't then I want to put it back on. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? if you want to put it back on, use some double-sided tape. thats what slp uses to put their grills on. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? I filled the holes with plastic weld and painted it to match the rest , used mesh on the inlets looks good and cost less alot than say a wings west grill. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? Yes, it says Camaro under there. I pulled the front fascia off. It was really easy. Take the headlights out, a few 10mm here and there and everywhere. It may seem time consuming, but it goes pretty quick. I just think it's a little less violent than yanking it out. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? I yanked mine off and put mesh in the inlets before I got my billet grille. Got several of pics of it on my site in the sig (also in high res). |
Re: What's under da' Grill? You dont necessarily have the yank it off. I simply bent the crap out of it, stuck my hand down behind the front fascia, and unscrewed the 3 nuts. I broke it loose with a wrench, then used a socket to have some grip on it, then when it was loose enough, I took it off by hand. The grill is still able to be put back on and there was no damage to it whatosever. Its kind of complicated, but at least I didnt mess anything up. Hope that helps. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? Holy CRAP!!! I just found my project of the day. I had no freaking idea that their was anything behind the stock grill. NataSS that is just plain cool! Time to put on my mechanics gloves, grab a pack of smokes and hit the shop. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? I pulled mine, and with a little clean up, it looks great. Identicle to Nata...well duh, we do have the same car with the same paint. Next project is to remove the bumber supports, so I can mount my new tranny cooler somewhere behind there, if there room of course. |
Re: What's under da' Grill? You can go a step further and pick up some colored letter Fill-in's for the indented "CAMARO". Take a look at Ratio411's. Pics are at the bottom http://www.cardomain.com/id/ratio411 |
Re: What's under da' Grill? hey fast SS when u get ur bumper supports out could u tell me how to....im gonna need the extra room for my cooler too |
Re: What's under da' Grill? if you want to put it back on, use some double-sided tape. thats what slp uses to put their grills on. :drive: |
Re: What's under da' Grill? I went the expensive route with a grill replacement. No regrests here. :) |
