Shift Light
I don't like the idea having a huge tach and shift light on my dash always in my way, but I want a shift light for the track. Would it work if I put the light in the vent just to the right of my steering wheel? That way it will be out of the way but I would still be able to see it.

Yes. It's common to do, really. I have a harlan shiftlight, that I bought (a guy custom makesthem.. search google)
I bought the little bracket he sells as well, and I found a bolt and a nut that allows me to mount my shift light PERFECTLY in the driver side vent (to the left of me).. You can mount it in the center ones too, I imagine. I used the driver side and found it fits perfectly, angled towards me, there was already a hole there that I put the bolt into.

Thats great, I'm trying to keep my car toned down, no badges, no exhaust tips, so not having the huge tach and shift light sticking out the top of the dash is great.

harlan and raptor both make stealth type shift lights, their small and will fit in the vents. I have mine in the defrost vent, looks good. do searches and you'll find a bunch of info on them and how to install it ( install is cake). hope this helps

Thank you guys so much, I'm rather new to the forum, but this is a great place, always lots of people online and such quick responses, much better than the other places I post.

Yeah, I have my Raptor light in the vents to the right thats above my stereo...I can see it when I want to drive hard, and I forget it's even there when I'm just driving to work. I've seen people put them in the defroster vent in the a-pillar...but that vent works too well defrosting the window to risk blocking it.
Plus if your car is like mine and doesn't have traction control, the wiring for the switch is right there, and you can grab power and ground from it.

I have mine in the vent jus to the right of the wheel and no one has EVER noticed it until it lights up. Very stealth, but noticable even in the day light when it lights up.

I remember reading once and I dont know if it was here or another board but someone took that Harlan shift light and mounted it in his Camaro where the skip shift light is on he cluster. It looked badass there and was out of the way. I would like to do that but cant remember where I saw it.

The skip shift light idea is awesome, I hate that light anyway, and I'm glad I can get it in green, thats what color the rest of my accents are in. And the price is a good price too. Are they hard to install? I've done some of the other stuff myself, but electronics always scare me.

Check out post #12. It's a real basic setup, just three wires.

They have a step by step install of the Harlan light and the raptor is basically the exact same setup.
