im2fast4u98z28 02-07-2008 07:01 PM

just pull the radio and there is a little box behind it pull up on the box and unplug the smallest connection going into the box

im2fast4u98z28 02-07-2008 07:02 PM

you can't miss the box. takes15 mins tops

Its easy to do. Removing the radio is no big deal. I did this and my auto lights are disabled but the DRL's still work.

JumpInTheFire.com 02-07-2008 08:16 PM

what is drl?

daytime running lights.

If I remember correctly, DRL isn't the only thing that fails to function if you mess with the box behind the radio. The best way it to crimp together the two wires going to the light sensor. The system will think its always daytime and not turn on the head lights... check out the sticky.... there is a detailed pic.

I done mine on my old Z28 the way VIP1 posted. It disables the auto headlights but the parking lights will still be on during the day. You will then have full control of your headlights

It took me all of 5 minutes

SparkyJJO 02-07-2008 09:25 PM

I dunno, I've gotten used to the auto lights and I'm actually spoiled with it

SouthBLVD 02-08-2008 04:33 PM

just pull your e brake up one notch, and your drl won't work at all!

bad6as 02-08-2008 05:15 PM

i want to tap in to the 2 wires to the light sensor. but i was wondering if i could reach the 2 wires by removing the radio

And your brake light will be on all day long on your dashboard.

If I'm remembering right, just unplugging part of that box on my 2000 made my turn signals not work. I decided to do the solder 2 pins together mod...I didn't want DRL's or auto headlights though. I had them in my truck and it drove me nuts...but GM allows you to disable it in a silverado (just hit the dome override button 4 times fast or something)...don't have that option on the Camaro.

bad6as 02-08-2008 05:30 PM

well because on my 9" my abs and brake light are on all the time.

now i remember reading a while ago jumping a wire in the abs fuse block made the abs and brake light go out. and the brake light worked like it should, this was onlu for 98 it said but no one could confirm it

cookba 02-24-2008 12:45 AM

dont due what post #2 says. unless you dont want the BRAKE light to come on EVER (ie low brake fluid).

SpdFrk1990 02-24-2008 12:49 AM
