Any Ta's with the Mecham hood? I was wanting some pics of the hood. Also how is the fit? |
Re: Any Ta's with the Mecham hood? My roommate has a real Mecham TA so hopefully that's authentic enough. :) A few pictures of his car can be found at http://www.azls1.com/machota Fit is very mediocre. Obviously it was all painted and assembled at Mecham and my impression is the paint on the hood is iffy. The fiberglass looks textured in some places and could have used a little more prep work (indicating the original product was probably rough) and the center of the nose (where it comes down between the two sections of the "grille") rubbed through the paint on the front clip. So fitment really isn't that great, but it is a good looking hood nonetheless. |
Re: Any Ta's with the Mecham hood? Fitment was crap on the hood I bought from Mecham. Cost a lot to get it finished to look halfway decent. They have apparently come out with a newer design that is similar, but it seems (from the one guy posting his install story) like they still have quality issues. The hood got lots of attention, but really was more race-quality rather than show-quality - especially once you looked up close. I have some pics in sig... good luck, Shane |
Re: Any Ta's with the Mecham hood? Fit like crap when I first got it, Cracked/wavy. Box was undamaged so crack was from factory. Wanted to return it but would have to pay shipping and restocking fee. Had my body shop friend just do his best with it. 20hrs labor BEFORE paint. http://www.techcycle.org/jim/hood1.jpg http://www.techcycle.org/jim/hood2.jpg http://www.techcycle.org/jim/hood3.jpg http://www.techcycle.org/jim/hood4.jpg http://www.techcycle.org/jim/car.jpg |
Re: Any Ta's with the Mecham hood? I'd say it was well worth the work. Looks GREAT. I LOVE those hoods. If you don't mind me asking .. what was your total cost? |
