Can't replace blown air bag?
 

Was planning to swap to the T/A interior and have the donor car already. Only hitch is the T/a's air bag. I thought no problem, I'll just buy a new one and replace it. Problem fixed. Then my buddy tells me that apparently if the air bag gets blown, you have to replace the dash. You can't replace the air bag, that it wont work. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me seeing as people sell passenger side take out air bags all the time. Though he's a mechanic so I have a bad feeling he's right.

Anyone heard of this or is he misinformed? I'd hate to start the swap only to have my air bag light on and a non working air bag.

Also, he said a camaro airbag won't fit in the trans am dash. Again sounds fishy.

im pretty sure you can replace airbags. Otherwise how would total'd cars that get fixed (r titels) go on the road. I understand that not all cars blow airbags in a crash but thats not the point. You would need the airbag for the dash and the cover.

Cover is still attached. When you said the airbag for the dash, you mean a T/A specific one or just a new one. I can still use the air bag from the Camaro if it will fit.

Know if the camaro bag is the same size/shape as the T/A bag?
