i've decided on a hood... I want my car to stand out. I don't want the normal ram-air hood. It's a great looking hood but every LT1 bird has it because it's the only hood for us. Well a few years back I was looking over a website that made carbon fiber panels with a friend of mine for one of his classes when I came upon a cowl hood for the Firebird. I called up VIS Racing and, sparing the specific pricing it was well over $1K. I said thank you goodbye and hung up. Well surfing ebay, which we know everyone does...I came across the exact same hood...for hundreds less. Apparently their prices have come down. When I come up with the money I'm getting this bad boy. Here's a picture of the hood. I will paint the hood white to match the car but will keep either the top or sides, NOT both, of the cowl unpainted to show the carbon fiber. Haven't yet decided. https://imagehost.vendio.com/a/10579..._cowl_hood.jpg |
looks like it will be badass I really like it something different and gives a badass appearance. |
That's going to look wicked! I would leave the sides open and essentially have the DH/Blackbird style stripes in CF. LT1 body styles can pull those hoods off nicely! |
being a lt1 that should look good |
i think it will look badass, any pics of it on a car? |
Nice choice.. Thats gonna look mean. |
hopefully i can work together some money this summer so i can get it. not exactly up there on the priority list, i actually have to fix a few things first. then save for a full paint job. i'd love to see a picture of this hood on an actual car...i have yet to see one on the car. |

about time a firebird will look unique!!! cant wait to see it on |
I think your gonna love that hood. I had a '96 with a TA wing too and a cowl hood. I would leave the side in CF for the best look. Here are a couple of pics that I had to scan in (pre digi-cam days for me:emb:). http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...R/scan0006.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...waynoplate.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...RETR/bw_ew.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...R/mvc-001f.jpg Larry |
that looks awesome! i honestly haven't liked the cowl look but i think the wider cowl will look great. |
I think it will look real good. |
Should look pretty good...should. You have a nice car right now anyways... That hood is only gonna make it look better! |

IMO, I really dig the old Stinger Hoods called "Big Block" Hoods for the '93-'97 birds! I'm planning on getting one for mine here soon, and at about $450, can't beat that! To each their own though! http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...gBlockHood.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...BlockHood1.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...BlockHood8.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...BlockHood4.jpg |
