WHERE'S THE BERGER MOD WRITE UP!! Seriously

Ok doing the berger mod and this is pissing me off:bang: i had the write up than some how misplaced it and have been searching for about an hour now and cant seem to find it. Anyone want to be nice and tell me just the basics of how to do it or have a link? Much appreciated

What is there to write up? You remove the panel, !badge it, wash it, let it dry, spray with self etching primer, spray w/ 3 lite coats of semi gloss/flat black (your choice). Let dry for a few hours. Reinstall, enjoy. :chug:

Oh yeah here you go:

like the grit of sand paper because you have to sand it down, if i remember it was 600 but dont remember

djsanchez2 Jun 4, 2008 08:16 PM

Check the link i posted above  You beat me to it.

BTW :google: is your friend. I did a search and it was the first thing that popped up lol.

And nah if you use self etching primer...... no sanding needed. The primer does all the work for you chemically.

All my guy did was scuff my panel up and spray it with semi gloss. That was last year and it has help up wonderfully. I don't know how many coats he did but it turned out great.

djsanchez2 Jun 4, 2008 08:29 PM

It is better to do 3-5 lite coats rather than 1-2 heavy coats. Less of a chance of runs, thick spots.

Since the info has been posted already, and I am a post/photo whore, here's mine:

I prefer flat black or satin to be like the original Berger cars.

mycamaroSS Jun 4, 2008 11:07 PM

ok just finished, used flat black, hopefully it turns out good when i compare it when it's on my car. and hibachi that is one nice lt1 you got there love how you tied the berger with the flat black spoiler. One thing...I LOVE HIBACHI lol

Well shit, if i wouldve known it was this easy. I wouldve tried this awhile back lol Where do i get this "self-etching primer" & paint at???

mycamaroSS Jun 5, 2008 12:12 AM

i just used dupli color flat black from autozone, no primer just sanded it down to where there was no gloss

Justin00SS Jun 5, 2008 12:14 AM

I also took pics of mine, it's a less complete write-up but might be of interest nevertheless:

Thank you much :) I chose Hibachi 'cause it's definition in Japanese means Rice Cooker ... so I cook rice with my Z28... lol.. :D

That's the poor mans spoiler ;-) I am repainting the whole car once I get new front and rear bumper covers. So I figured I'd paint it black (primer looks bad) and keep it that way 'til I finally get it painted (which could be next year at this rate with gas prices).

Holy tiny rear tires batman. But on a serious side, that looks REALLY good on your car.

HibachiZ28 Jun 5, 2008 09:13 AM

Tiny rear tires? lol.. 275/40R17's are tiny? I mean, I know they aren't 325's or anything. I did want to go bigger, but these effers rub bad :( I need to roll my fenders.
