Its the dirty highway air flowing from under the car meeting with the air flowing from over the top and depositing the dirt on the back
i wonder if corvettes or any other cars with flat rear bumpers get this as much, they probably do im guesing since you see box trucks with dirty tailgates

It sucks, but Zaino has some anti-static properties that help. I just detail spray my car before I drive it, and when I get home if its just out for a cruise. Every few days if I'm driving it daily (not right now).
As far as the water coming from the tail lights, its retarded that they were used as the channel to drain the water (it drips down the cracks of the hatch, through the tail lights, and out on the bumper). However, a leaf blower and 30 seconds takes care of it all.

I had a pretty bad oil leak from my intake manifold gasket (an LT1 with a leaky intake manifold gasket? i never would have guessed, lol) and oil would inevitably end up on the top of the back bumper after driving the car... not sure how... now that the oil leak is gone and the bottom of the car is cleaned up, no more oil on the back bumper

it has nothing to do with static. its the way the air moves around our bumpers, and not to mention soot from the exhaust. use a california duster every time you park it (if garaged).

I have my california car duster and I love it and hate it at the same time. If my car has a very thick layer of dust on the bumper I rub the duster over it and barley let it touch it other wise I can actually watch that duster leave tiny tiny little scratch's in the bumper ofcourse I can spray detail or wax it and it goes away but if I use the duster to much my car looks like ****

Some anti-static cream should heal it up. Dirt, dust, and soot hate anti-static cream so they stay away from it fearing that chuck norris might round house kick it in the face.
With a bumper like that, the odd aerodynamic flow of the car, and dirt everywhere, it really is impossible to avoid. Clay bars help to get rid of the massive amounts of dirt that accumulate in that region, but I really am not all that big of a fan of clay bars as some tend to cause swirl marks and such. Wax will make it easier to clean, and getting a leaf blower into your tail lights after wash will def help get all the water out of your tail lights.

Im sure we all have the same problem due to design of the bumper; but like a few mentioned already: 1. it will never stop; 2. clay barring it does help slow the accumulation.

A common problem I belive. But an other thing i have seen is, if you are driving directly after a rain fall water will be colected al the way up along the midle on the rear wind sheild, as whell.
