What's safe to use under the hood?
 

My engine bay is filthy and I need to clean it. I've been reading things about using soap/degreaser and a hose but can I damage any electrical components under the hood? Is there anything that needs to be removed or protected before I just start spraying under my hood with a hose?

I have used SIMPLE GREEN and GUNK ENGINE DEGREASER many times....I cover Computer and Fuse Boxes with Saran Wrap and elastics....just use slow hose water...spray stuff on and wait awhile--depending on how dirty..toothbrush and 1" paintbrush comes in handy also for tight places. Spray on cold/dry engine bay.
