Re: Photos - Red Z06 calipers on the SS
John, I left those top caliper "springs" out on both the front and rear calipers and have not had any noise or braking issues. About 400 miles so far. I'm not sure if the C5 pads will fit the f-body baskets anyways.

Actually, its quite easy to grind off the Corvette on the calipers. You just have to spend some time wet sanding where they were afterwards so that the metal is smooth (just like with a fender repair). It should be easy to find a shop that does powder coating who can paint them for you (any color you want) and to add decals under a clear coat. But because they have to remove the old powder coating first, its better to start with the gray C5 calipers instead of the red Z06 ones.
The problem is doing all that can add $30/caliper to the cost (mostly cost of powder coating). But for a Pontiac Trans Am, I think this is a must as who wants Corvette on their car. I much prefer the Trans Am decal.
Why go through the trouble you ask? Because the caliper is still better than the stock f-body one and changing to C5 brakes by doing this is still cheaper than adding aftermarket ones.

Anyone that worried (or ****) about grinding off the Corvette on their calipers probably should just leave this mod alone
Is having "Corvette" on there so bad? Its not like it says Mustang or Honda. Its just the best GM factory caliper, and just so happens to bolt right onto our cars. You don't see guys grinding "Baer" or "Wilwood" off of their calipers, which are just someone's last name instead of a type of vehicle. All of them are made by the same company, PBR.
BTW, I got a ton of compliments on the Corvette calipers on the car at Super Chevy yesterday. Even had one other 35th owner ask why his car didn't come with them lol.

i don't know why everybody is making such a big deal about having corvette calipers on an f-body.
i have had this idea floating around in my head for quite awhile for my Z.
heck, i might even see if i can adapt them to my 1971 pro-touring nova ss..

Tony, your car looks absolutely fabulous man! I love those wheels. Did you get them on Ebay? I think I saw the same set.. They're kind of a one-off from the OEM ZR1 wheels, but they look badass nonetheless.
