A4 with 3.73's So...I was thinking of going with 3.73's in my TA. I currently have the stock 3.23's and was wondering how the 3.73's do on the highway at cruising speeds...say 75 mph. I only have a couple mods: ETP heads Thunder racing 227XT cam 150 shot of Nitrous Yank 3600 stall Trans Go shift kit full BMR rear suspension And a bunch of other crap. Anyway, my real question is if the swap to 3.73's are worth it? |
@ 65, I'm taching 2200 RPM w/ 3600 converter (locked) and 3:73's 1-2mph in the quarter when my car was stocked cubed, H/C. |
At 75mph it's going to be around 2700RPM's, I had 3.73's and a SS3600 setup in my Car, it was a pretty good combo. |
So for the most part, do you guy's think the swap was worth it? |
If you are concerned about E.T. at the track do it..if you are going to install the traction stuff and tires..do it.. if not don't do it. |
I only gained .1 in the 1/4 going to a 3.73 gear so I'm not sure how much benefit it actually was but since I was replacing my worn out 10 bolt with a Strange 12 bolt it seemed like the perfect time to try a different gear. My MPG went from 24 to 21 on the highway too. |
My friends A4 SS has 3.73s with a stock stall and it feels a lot better than mine. It accelerates a lot quicker at half/full throttle compared to my 3.23s on the freeway.... I say get them they are worth the little be extra get up and go. If you're worried about MPGs buy a Prius |
I was thinking the 3.73's would get the motor in it's power band faster, especially with the cam. |
I went from 2.73-3.73 gears I know its more of a jump but it really made my car come to life. |
Love mine and we have similar setups.. Do it. :D |
I love mine, but I'm on a 28 inch tire. I think I turn around 2200 @ 70 mph. |
I have an LT1, but similar set up, Vig 3200 and 3.73s. I had the converter for about 6 years with the stock 3.23 gears, recently got 3.73s, its just a lot more fun to drive with the 3.73s. Well worth it. |
4.56 All the way.. But i would do the 3.73's... |
