Default Stall with stock gears

I know I have made a few posts about stalls and gears, but I was wondering, how do you guys think my car is going to act if I go with a 3600 stall and keep the stock 2.73s? I like getting good gas mileage on the highway, so it's a thought I am having. I am wondering if I will still get the good gains out of the stall. I don't see why not, but you never know.

I put in a vigilante 3400-3600 stall with my stock 2.73's a few months ago, it sucks driving around town but it locks up fine on the interstate so I still get around 27 mpg on the highway. Gas mileage around town dropped because I had to rev the engine higher to get it moving from a stop. Make sure to get your car tuned for the new stall.

You'll get a good gain from the stall...it will just feel more sluggish around town. If you ever get 3.73s, then it will make it feel tighter. Like I said it another post...My SS3600 and 3.73s feel like stock.

Or, if you're worried about gas mileage, 3.42s might be a great option for you. I recently bought a stock 3.42 rearend out of a T/A with 20k miles on it for $200.... so keep a look out for something like that.. would be a cheap and easy swap. No need to worry about having to buy new gears then pay someone to install them, etc...just spend a few hour and swap in a stocker!

If you are really lucky and contact some shops you might even get a Stock M6 rearend for free. I found a shop that the owner had one lying around for a year and he just wanted it gone. I went and picked it up and threw it in. Its been working great for me for about a year now.

It will be fine with 2.73's and a stall. The stall will feel looser around town than a 3.42 or 3.73 gear but there will be no problems. Gears do much .. much less than a stall. I ran 13.20's before my stall with a cat back and lid.. After the stall I ran consistent consistent 12.60's on sticky tires still on 2.73's again with a cat back and lid. changing to 3.73's felt like I gained just as much as I did with the stall and it felt 10x better in the daily drive but in reality I only gained .1-.2 from the gear change vs the .6 from the stall.

Thanks man, that pretty much answers my question. i may just go ahead and stall it and get some gears later on. BTW, pretty camaro you got there, I like your taste in color.

A 3200 will feel a little better around town and still give you good gains. May be a good compromise........
