Default Is a high stall gentler to the trans during shifts?

they make shift smoother and rpms dont have to drop so much. Would this help the trans live longer?

In that respect it does act as a cushion, However the additional torque it makes is a different story

yeah but the torque is seen during the launch, not so much during shifts. Plus the torque converter is 25lbs lighter. Less inertia for the clutch packs to slow down. And the engine rpms dont drop as much either.

Much better for the trans during part throttle driving.

True but the hard parts and the clutches do see alot more torque over a much broader range, rather than the more gradual curve they would get with the stock converter.

If you don't have a decent cam, stay with a lower stall-2200-2400. The more weight, the more slip=more heat. Just food for thought.

Ok Guys I have been looking and looking for a thread where someone has run into the same problem I have. I have cracked my Flex plate and its warped and it hits the side of the bellhousing. When it happened I shut the car off and towed it home and its on jack stands. I thought it was the timing chain that was the problem then noticed the plastic cover for the trans was gone!! Wasnt like that before the incident. I attempted to turn the motor by hand and noticed the flex plate was hitting the side and stoping the motor from turning. I have a new flex plate on its way and was wondering what else she could have done when this happened, such as the crank getting messed up. I dont have any good pics of the flex plate but will post some when I get it out.
