Who builds the STRONGEST 4L60E's out there??

Well it's that time again. My last rebuild lasted over 3 years and 15,000 miles. Phoenix Trans here in DFW did the rebuild and I am very pleased with their work. For almost two years I was shifting manually due to the no shift problem with my high stall converter. I missed a lot of shifts and was downshifting manually which is a killer on the tranny. I also shift at 7,000 RPM and always wear slicks which doesn't help either.

Anyway the bottle is on my car now and I am aiming for at least 525 RWHP and 650 RWTQ. I want to make sure I get the strongest trans possible because I cannot afford to rebuild this thing once a year. I would go back with Phoenix but they will not warranty their trans unless you use their torque converter which I don't want to do. I want a one year warranty if I am going to shell out $2K plus.

I am considering Century Trans in Houston, Phoenix Trans here in DFW, and Level 10 in NJ. Who else builds strong 4L60E's? Who has a good warranty? What parts do I want to make sure are in my tranny? I don't want to spare any expense, I want all the billet, upgraded parts that are available. Better to do it right the first time.

I read the article in GMHTP on Century Trans and it seemed like they did good work. I appreciate any input. Remember my car weighs 4,000 lbs, that extra 500-600 lbs makes a lot more work for the tranny.

I am pretty set on going with CMotorsports for mine. They are a sponsor (Racing Transmissions) over there ->

They have great customer service and a good warranty. I'm getting ready to order a level 2 soon.

I've heard that Rossler transmissions are the best. Supposedly Lingenfelter uses them in their 427 turbo vettes. But, they are pretty $, somewhere around $2800 I think.

:hail:Century Transmissions. My 4L60E in my LT1 has held up now for 4 years and 500+ rwtq. over 40,000 daily driven miles and works good as new.

I have been wondering the same thing. F-body trans, there link is racing Transmissions, says they build the strongest 4L60E, but i haven't heard to much about them, a lot of people like their FLP level IV which i am thinking about when my tranny takes a dump. :burn:

If you plan to manually shift the next one, just get a T400 otherwise you will wreck the 2nd one too.
