Default 4l60E Seperator plate trashed, why? What to do?

I have a 4l60e with over 112K miles on it, it has a transgo HD2 shift kit installed and all the holes in the plate were drilled to spec (the larger of the two specs given). I installed all three spacers in the accumulator. Now when I took the valve body off to pull my pump one of the check ***** was stuck in the plate and it mushroomed the hole, the ball is about to pop through any minute it looks like.

How bad is it if the ball does push through (it looks like it will just get stuck in the passage on the trans side, not really go anywhere, but it means it's not checking anything, heh).

Also, if i order a transgo seperator plate are the holes already drilled to spec or is it the same as stock?

It's a pretty cheap and easy replacement, I just want to get the best.

Finally, is it just age that caused the ball to push through? Or did i install something wrong? Or what?

Thanks all.

The ***** can wear through the plate over time from constant normal cycling and impact.

Okay, that's what i thought. 112K miles of hard driving is pretty rough on wear parts. Heh.

So any input about which seperator plate to get? A stock replacement? A transgo? Any vendors on here sell them?

The oem plate or the TG one will be fine. I would definitly replace it and look to get some torlon ***** so it does not happen again.

Will do!

What are torlon ***** and where do i get them?

On a side note, what do the ***** do? What does it affect when one is stuck or pushed through? That should have been my first concern, heh.

Okay, I see some torlon *****,two different sites have two different sizes for 4l60e, do I want .250 or .375 or some other size?

Thanks a lot folks, I was worried about this.

You want the .250. The .375 is either for the pressure relief in the pump or the lo/reverse clutch (the one that's caged in the case) or both. I can't remember for sure. But I know .250 is the the ones you need for the VB and case if your swapping plates. I went Transgo FWIW.
