Won't shift ???

Just installed Yank 4000 converter in my car. Took it out for a test drive. Trans won't shift going down the street in drive, but if you manually put it in 1st and then shift to 2nd manually it shifts, but then slips when you manually shift into drive. HELP !!! Also, in a dry 4L60E trans how much trans fluid should it take? (1qt. in converter).

Anyone? I've been asking around and a couple of people said the computer has to be programed for the new converter and the transmission will not function until this is done. Are they right? If they are I will have to have the car towed because I can't drive it like that. Thanks for any help.

My car did this after i had just got a brand new tranny rebuild for $1200.

I did take it back to the shop they said something must have "popped" out of place when i told them my drive went out. they fixed it in less than an hour so it was something stupid.

Make sure your solenoids are in there correctly, since the problem happened after you put in the tc. TC's should just be plug and play you don't need it tuned unless your going over 3600 to prevent stall wall

actually with a 4000 stall tuning would be needed badly , The pcm would be very confused by the numbers its getting for rpm vs speed.

Woops i thought it said 3600 for some reason. Now i agree with the previous post

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the info. I'm quite new to the LS1 technology. After doing this upgrade I was anxious to take the car for a ride,
( I live in Hamburg, N.Y. and it's been a long winter) only to feel sick when the car wouldn't run. I will have the car tuned for this performance upgrade. Thanks again for your help!
