4.10's in an a4
4.10's in an a4 looking at buying another ls1, this one is a 98 z28 a4 with boltons and 4.10's. How shitty are these gears gonna be on the highway? does anyone have a vid with 4.10's in an auto during normal driving? i tried to search but couldnt find anything
I dont see where it would be a problem. If its the factory stall then you wont have an issue at all. If its stalled I would try and take it on the interstate or take it to interstate speed to make sure your not "free revving" while your cruising. As long as theres a load under the engine during cruising then it wont be an issue. You wont be going over 3k rpm if thats what your mainly asking.
i used to drive mine daily on 4.10s with a stock stall, i love them. i went to a 3600 yank stall and the car felt like a monster on the streets. by monster i mean with the stall and 4.10s it felt like a 9sec car ready to make some money. i used to drive from my house to my buddies place about 30 minutes north of me and it was fine, the only problem i had was the open exhaust. it took damn near a hour to get my ears to stop ringing so i stopped driving it on the street. now i have the th400 and 4k stall im gonna run full exhaust and drive it more on the street.
the 4.10 gear isnt as bad as everyone says they are for an auto. if you drove a car with 5.13 gears on the street 4.10s would feel like 3.42s. the little rpm jump isnt nothing to worry about.

I drove my car when it had the a4 in with 4.10's. I LOVED it for around town driving and racing. Highway wasent great but i just drove at 60 and it was fine.
I wouldnt shy away from them. If you decide that you dont like them its an easy swap to a guy with an M6 who will for sure want them and get his 3.42's

I can let you know in a few weeks when i get my flt auto swapped in place of my m6, I currently have 4.10 in the rear and will try it out first before switching gears.
If you like the car and is what you want dont let the rear gears be the deciding factor. Buy it drive for a couple weeks and if you dont like the 4.10 gears swap them out if thats an option for you.

im runnin 4.10,s on mine now the car loves it with my setup on the h/way at 70 im at or around 3-3200 great gear if ya use it for what ots geared for .if ya wanna d/d it and so on id take some gear out of it but its all in preferance my car is a toy for me so i dont d/d it some ar egonna say yes or no but i like it
