Default Yank sbs3000 for street only car

Does anyone have this converter , Looking for some feed back how this converter is on the street. Will I have to tune for it right away,or will it be good to go without a tune? Car is 98 trans am with bolt ons.[ lid , headers,catback,ls6 intake ,shift kit.]It has stock gears of 273, but i will be installing 342.I might put a mild cam in the future.car see track maybe once a year.Stock converter really drags this car down at times just looking to wake it up. Any feed back and opinions would be appreciated.

You should really consider a larger converter....these cars are very streetable with bolt-ons and 3600-4000 stalls. With 3.42's, you can afford to go larger since gears tend to tighten things up. Since you mentioned Yank, you should consider their SS3600 or possibly the SS4000 since you're planning a cam upgrade. Both are great street converters that leave a lot of room to grow. Most folks who start with a smaller converter end up going bigger, so save yourself the trouble now!

Thanks for responding to my post. After talking to Dave at Yank, and telling him how the car is used, and my future mods, he recommended a SS3200, and this is what I purchased. I would like to thank Dave at yank for helping me with my choice.
