Default I wish I had gotten a cooler with fan

My temps climb in traffic when the car isnt moving and when I'm at the track. Anybody try the B&M 70297?

13.5 in. x 9 in. x 3.5 in. 175 degree stat.

Hmm I wonder if my fan-less one would work better mounted in front of the radiator.

What kind of trans temps are you seeing, and where are you measuring these temps from?

It's not bad under normal driving but combine hot lapping the car at the track, foot braking with a SS400 stall, on a hot day it got up to 250.

Temp data is from the factory sensor (4L80) and reported by the Compushift controller.

The current cooler is the popular B&M (around 12x8x2") mounted "dope style"

At the track, the hottest I have seen measured from the pan is 190, and it was 90+ that day running a 3200 converter. 250 would have me feeling a little worried. Can you perhaps leave it dope style and place a small fan on the rear side of it?

Thats an idea. I noticed fluidyne makes a 9" fan.... $100 lol. But it's 3" thick. IDK how I'll fit that in there, def cant put it under the cooler cuz of ground clearance, but I might be able to mount the fan on top of the existing cooler. Probably enough cool air coming in through the vacant fog light hole.

Yeah I think airflow is your issue here. My coolers have always been in front of the radiator so airflow is decent when the car is moving. I think a fan would solve your issues.

Thanks for your help.

Have a nice holiday.

I have a b&m cooler with a fan on my car mounted behind the bumper cover. Its right behind one of the two holes in the cover. I don't have a bumper under my cover though. Works fine there. Mine is wired up to a switch and I never have to turn it on unless its like 90 out and im driving in town. And I turn it on if the trans get to 190*.

my B&M is the one thats like 11"x11" with the 1/2" pipe fittings-its mounted right behind the front bumper, parl.w/ the ground, mounted to the frame at a slight angle-i usually see temps in the 160-170 range on a hot day
i ran the car friday, i noticed the temp at the end of a pass was 172 degs,
4l80e with a high stall-the trans has the temp sensor built into the trans wiring, but seems to be accurate
they need some kind of airflow, room for the air to go thru also
