Default 4l60e AN transmission fittings

i want to make braided lines for my transmission cooler and route the in to the fender, so they are out of the way

so what i adapter will i need to go from the transmission to -6 line ?

some say i will need 1/4npt to -6, is that right ?

also what sort of pressure will those lines see ?

Yes you need 1/4 to -6 fittings.

Pressure will remain the same for the most part.

Do not buy 1/4 npt, thats not the same kind of thread the trans has cut in it. Buy a correct fitting like this: 1/4 NPS straight cut threads.

Both NPT and NPS have the same thread angle, shape, and pitch. However, NPT threads are tapered and NPS threads are straight.

Which one to use is argued millions time over, Both work. I am using NPT in mine and have been for a while, no problems.

But they are actually NPS.

Found this picture, NPT on the left screwing into a NPS connector, NPS on the right... both screwed in hand tight, equal resistance. you can see the difference, but its up to you.

I used 1/4 NPT to -6 AN 45deg angle fittings with no issues. Max line pressure is also a non issue. Tranny might see 230 psi max if someone has done some work to the unit. Same fitting for both.

I am using summit part number EAR-984006ERL, not sure about the 90, but obviously the 45 works from the post above. Same fitting.

Why would you buy an NPT fitting when an NPS is available. Makes no sense.

Its no different from regular lines. Just cut the hose to length, put the little fancy clamps on the end if you choose and your done.

thanks a lot for that. Doesnt seem as bad as I thought. Its definately the "right" way to do it over using normal rubber lines

if a rubber line is rubbing on something it will get punctured eventually and tranny fluid is flammable. if ss braided line is rubbing on something, most likely will eat what ever it is rubbing on

How much line should I order? It looks like Summit has everything you need. I am getting 2 straight adapters with 45 degree swivel hose ends. I thought 10 feet of braided line should be enought.
